The Microsoft MB-500 exam is the second test required for the path, and just like any other certification exam of this vendor, it has a certain structure that you need to be ready for beforehand. Thus, you should know that the test will last for 150 minutes and you have to answer about 60 questions to finish it. The questions can be presented in various types, including active screen, build list, drag and drop, multiple choice, single answer, and so on. The score that you need to earn must be 700 points or higher. You can take the exam in the English language only, and it will cost you $165.

To succeed in this certification test and get the passing score, you need to have a good knowledge of the exam content alongside the details it contains. The content is really broad, so you should be ready that you can face with some questions that will not be covered in the topics. All in all, Microsoft MB-500 has the following sections that you need to explore:

• Applying developer tools (10-15%)

  This objective has three key areas that cover various processes that you need to know how to perform. Thus, the potential candidates need to have the skills in managing source code and artifacts with the use of version control, customizing Finance and Operations apps with the use of Visual Studio, as well as implementing the Finance and Operations app framework functionality.

• Designing the AOT elements & developing them (20-25%)

  This is the only domain that covers about a quarter of the whole list of questions that you will face during your testing session. It has 4 broad sections that you need to master, and they will test your knowledge of how to create forms, tables, EDT and enumerations, as well as classes and AOT elements.

• Planning solution & architecture design (10-15%)

  In this topic, it is important to know how to identify the major components of Dynamics 365 Finance and Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management. • Implementing security & optimizing performance (10-15%)

  This last domain will measure your skills in implementing the role-based security policies and requirements, applying the fundamental performance optimization techniques, and optimizing the user interface performance. This means that you need to know how to create and modify permissions, privileges, and duties, diagnose client performance with the use of the Performance Timer or browser-based tools, as well as enforce permissions policy.

• Developing & testing code (10-15%)

  This subject area is all about the development of X++ and object-oriented code. Therefore, it is essential to be able to perform the processes that include the implementation of the base operators and types, X++ variable scoping, attribute classes, common structured programming constructs, table, and so on.

• Implementing reporting (10-15%)

  As for this section, it will measure your level of the knowledge base that includes such areas as the advantages and weak points of reporting tools in Dynamics 365 FO, creation and revision of Dynamics Reports, as well as design of Dynamics workspace. This means that you should be able to implement the reporting security requirements, create the Finance and Operations apps reports with the use of Power BI or Microsoft Excel.
